Dr. Tierney Olsen grew up in Big Sky, MT, and although she had worked and competed with horses from an early age, it was her time spent working with sled dogs, both in Montana and Alaska that made her decide to pursue a career in veterinary medicine. Upon returning from Alaska, Tierney attended the University of Montana-Western in Dillon, where she received her bachelor's degree. She attended Washington State University's College of Veterinary Medicine, and graduated with honors in 2012.
Tierney then spent a year doing a clinical internship at Moore Equine Veterinary Centre in Calgary, Alberta. In her year at the referral center, Tierney was fortunate to work with top-notch specialists providing medical and surgical services to an array of horses, including everything from jumpers to chuckwagon racers!
Tierney's special interests include equine medicine and lameness, as well as small animal internal medicine. Outside of work, Tierney enjoys spending time in the Montana outdoors with her husband, Dr. Jesse Olsen, their 2 year old son, 2 dogs, and a draft-cross gelding named Sioux. Tierney has been excited to be part of the Stillwater Vet team since June 2014, and will continue seeing equine and small animal appointments.
